The Drift – A Dose of Reality | Cup of Joe Leonard
Posted by Leonard WilliamsMar 19

Have you ever notice that your life turned out exactly like you thought it would. Not how you hoped it would, but how you thought it would. That’s because of a phenomenon in the “Being” of being human called the “Drift”.
That Drift usually takes the form of what ever cultural conversation you were born into. The implications of this are really very fascinating, and a very long conversation.
This next part should really bake your noodle. ![]()
It isn’t even your life anyway, it’s “Its” life and the “You” that you really are is not required for the living of “Its” life. If you are resisting the domination of the possibility that this brings up, stay with me for a minute.
Consider the possibility that the “You” that you really “are”, shares existence in the realm of the relative with an entity we shall call “It”. Also consider the possibility that, “It” actually lives the life that “You” think you have.
Saying the same thing in another way: Consider that the “I” in the phase “I” think, “I” want, “I” like, “I” breathe, and “I” feel is not really “You” and is really a deep superstition you have (and this superstition is capable of living life completely without you). Also consider that this superstition is so deep that you don’t think “It” is not you, you are, that it is you.
“It” wakes you up in the morning. ”It” brushes your teeth. “It” has kids that it fixes breakfast for. “It” (maybe) has a significant other that it snuggles up to at night. “It” drives to work. “It” has friends. “It” has Your life!
Lets get this notion about the “I” that you are for yourself handled once and for all. If ”You” are the “I” that is referenced in the phrase I think, I breath, I feel then “You” stop thinking, “You” stop breathing, “You” stop feeling. When you find that you can’t, you might want to re-consider the possibility that “It” is not “You” anyway.
If you can “Be” with the “bucket of cold water” that, this fact is (in a way that doesn’t dis-empower you) a space of possibility for a future that didn’t exist (for the “You” that you really are) before then, will begin to open up, inside of which, “You” can play with the question “What do YOU want?”.
Here’s the dose of reality I promised in the beginning: “It” really does have everything else in life handled, freeing the “You” that you really are, to do what ever “You” really want to do in life.
Cup O Joe. ![]()

With your theory of it the abilities of the human being would not exist. First there would be no such thing as Freewill therefore, as a human being you would have no reason to be on this earth. Without freewill you would be at the mrecy of the elements seen and unseen. More important you would not have a state of being mental or physical and as a result of the lack of a state of being no purpose can be served related to anything you do, would do or have done. Self-worth or the the lack of would reduce you (the being) to nothing, wanting nothing, caring about nothing, and the results of your actions (like many today) and how they effect others that do not hold your beliefs would meen nothing. sounds like the world we live in today!. Until something better comes along life is all we have. As people we can not afford to live in the mind alone, without stimulation from our environment and the elements around us, be they bad or good. Any concept beyound that serves only to tickle the mind for a brief time after which we come to our senses and one must reture to work each day making every effort to maintain a balance in ourself and the world we live in.

From the time we are young we learn certain behaviors mainly from our parents, extended family and schools. What we learn may or may not be true. We all have “family of origin issues”. If we are not conscious of our “family of origin issues”, if we have not work through them then we may be behaving on “auto-pilot”. Auto-pilot is the state of acting out behavior based on what we learned or picked up in early life. If we are behaving on auto-pilot then we are not truly acting our of the core essence of who we really are. That is why when a person says – “I am this or I am that” – they actually may be someone totally difference. Counseling, self analysis, introspection, meditation, co-counseling, reading and applying self-help can help you to discover the “real YOU”. If you question your early upbringing, beliefs, and behaviors maybe you will learn that you are doing exactly what you were meant to be. Then again, you may come to the realization that you are someone different than the person you thought your were. This is what a life of self-discovery is all about. It is the life that determines if we are truly living the life we were meant to. As long as you are fully “conscious” you are aware. Anything less is a recipe for trouble. That is “the drift” if you catch my meaning.

This is a really good read for me. Must admit that you are one of the coolest bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this useful article. Certain people are experts in particular fields, and have their own libraries that are full of books around certain topics.

Thank you for the interesting perspective on self and the concept of “it”. Presumably “it” being the part that takes on the mundane, ordinary, day to day activities and personal interactions with others.
My thoughts are on the danger in this theory further dissociation from direct responsibility for our choices, our decisions in life, and most importantly, responsibility for our actions. I personally don’t like the idea of furthering the distance between MY responsibility for my own life, my own actions, and the reality that my decisions, choices and actions affect the lives of others. While we all have our inner thoughts, desires and ideas we often keep supressed inside our minds – everything we do, say, and feel is directly tempered by our social training, our own ability to feel – the empathy we develop from our life experiences and would be at risk if one embraced the concept that “it” was responsible for the outcomes!
To separate who you are from “it” with the belief that there truly is a different and separate “you” somehow controlling your day to day physical self on its own is not a good thing, and could quite easily be dangerous.
Just my opinion…

Most of it is due to Joel Marion’s reputation as a fat burning expert who bases his methods on extensive research and who is known for having helped thousands of men and women to shed weight and fat. As with all diets if you are sedentary your weight loss will be impeded.

Or even you may give us some extra information to look at, something that would certainly associate what exactly youre talking about, something concrete?

This is some trustworthy material. It took me some time to come across this site but it was worth the time. I noticed this content was hidden in yahoo and not the number one spot. This site has a ton of nice material and it does not deserve to be burried in the searches like that. By the way I am going to add this website to my favorites.
