About
I’m the original Social Media Marketing “Geezer”. I’ve been around since before web 1.0 when the Internet was actually called the ARPA NET. A few of the only places one could get to back then on the ARPA NET was government buildings like the library of congress using a text based interface to travel from point to point, we thought that was so cool back then. lol There were no domain names back then and Internet addresses were actually called dotted quads (now called ip addresses).
After 20 years of flying around the world, being a Golf War Vet, launching aircraft and setting up computer networks for the U.S. Airforce, I decided to follow my passion and explore this new emerging field called social media.
Being a big fan of transformational technology at the social level, I was simply fascinated by the marriage of technology and cultural conversation at the level of social interaction. I also find the metrics (measurements) of this new arena titillating, in a savant like fashion. lol The next thing you know, bingo bango here I am, a social media marketing (Geezer) – errr! consultant. :-)
I am also a blogger about life and the universe (Coffee With Leonard) this is my Facebook Fan Page to the same.
I also started this blog for the Social Media Marketing “Do It Yourself’ Person”. This is my Facebook Fan Page for Social Media Marketing Savants on Facebook.
I also have a passion for the buying and selling of Real Estate. LeonardWilliams.Me
The number one question of any business person considering using a consultant for a social media marketing campaign is ROI (return on investment). I was very surprised to find out that most of the fortune 500 PR firms could not give me a clear answer for calculating the ROI on a Social Media Marketing campaign when I polled them. It’s a simple matter of taking a base line snap shot of certain key sales and customer processes and deploying certain metrics to capture the data, then using that data to calculate ROI.
There are two core metrics (things to be measured) in social media, Influence and Engagement. Influence equals people (i.e. twitter-number of followers, linkedIn-number of contacts, Facebook-number of friends). Engagement ask’s the question “how effective are you as a business, interacting with those people, to market your product or service”.
Ask any would be consultant how one would calculate the ROI on a social media marketing campaign, when he or she gives you the deer in the head lights look or tells you it’s impossible, thank them for their time and give us a visit at SocialMediaMarketingSavants.com I am a member of the International Social Media Association.
